Roberto Santiago is a famous and influential entrepreneur in Brazil. He is mostly known for owning the luxurious Maniara Shopping Mall, which attracts people from many regions of the world. He was born in 1958 in Joao Pessoa, where he spent most of his childhood and adult life. Roberto says that in his earlier days, he did not envision himself in business but the idea came as his life progressed. Roberto started as a writer in child literature in Brazil, and his pieces sold across the country and even outside. After a while, he went into script writing, play production and film directing. His films and plays also did considerably well as he was highly passionate about the arts.
Other than that, Roberto Santiago was also a blogger, who had his own website. He motivated people to go on living even when they faced challenges. He also gave them tips on how to beat the trials in life. Since most people in life face problems, his blogs became very influential because his blogs were based on real life experiences. People who gave feedback on his blogs also always indicated that the methods he suggested worked for them. The ample success in blogging made Roberto famous, and he felt an urge to advance his studies. He also gained an interest in investments and he knew that he would only prosper in it if he advanced his studies. Consequently, Roberto joined Pio X-Marist College and later the University Center in Joao Pessoa, where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration.
While in college, Roberto Santiago started the Santa Rosa Café that did fairly well. He envisioned himself in a bigger business, but he lacked the necessary finances to start it. Consequently, he decided to do something micro like the cafe and advance himself with the savings. Later he used the savings from the café to begin a cartonnage company, which mainly dealt with manufacturing cardboards and other utility items. The venture was very successful, and Roberto attributes this business to his current level of success. Roberto says that he used the savings from the cartonnage company to purchase the land on which he built the Maniara Shopping Mall.
The land was purchased in 1987 and it took Roberto two years to build the mall, launching it in 1989. The mall was intended to contain all products under one roof. The mall has several sections: food court, shopping stores, college, gym, financial institutions, gaming areas, rooftop concert hall, theatre and a stadium. The Domus Hall at the rooftop was opened in 2009, and it hosts music concerts, weddings, graduations, fairs, and exhibits. The hall has a capacity of 14000 people: 4000 seated and 10000 standing. Moreover, the Domus hall is soundproof and fitted with ample air conditioners.
